Historic Rock Springs Café (www.rockspringscafe.com) will once again be the venue for this year’s “Annual Wine, Pie and Cheese Fundraiser” in Black Canyon City, scheduled for Saturday, Oct 8. The fundraiser will be outdoors in the Garden Patio of Rock Springs Café, at the base of the beautiful Bradshaw Mountains. This year’s event will be hosted by Randy McLaughlin and Lori Martinez, residents of Black Canyon City. The first “Wine, Cheese and Pie” event was held in their private residence in 2008 and then as President of the local Chamber, Lori facilitated the event with volunteers until 2014. The event will be held to raise funds for three organizations in need of funding. The local grade school in Black Canyon City, Canon Elementary, has no funding for their arts and music programs and they have been designated as the local charity for 2016. Also chosen for the event are; HELP (Homeless Engagement Lift Partnership; www.homelessliftpartnership.com raising awareness and helping the homeless) and OCJ Kids (Opportunity, Community and Justice for Kids; ocjkids.org, mentoring and helping the children in the foster care system).

The event is from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm and includes a silent auction from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, casino gambling with the local famous AZ Duude (www.arizonaduuude.com) from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and DJ and dancing under the stars in the cool evening until 10:00 pm with Fenton Parker of Parker Entertainment. A new addition to the gambling area will be a Craps table, along with the usual Blackjack and Roulette tables.

The cost is $20 per ticket if purchased in advance, or $25 at the door. A table of eight can be purchased for $150 (if purchased in advance only). The price includes three glasses of various wines and $500 in “poker chips” for gambling. There will be light appetizers served such as cheese, crackers, fruit, nuts, chocolate and the pie served that evening will be donated by historic Rock Springs Café. Rock Springs will have an outdoor bar open and will serve a BBQ sandwich and sides for those who prefer additional options for $10.00.
