My company & title is… Cave Creek Unified School District’s Superintendent.

A typical day in my life includes… visiting classrooms and schools and many, many meetings during the day—school events and sports at night.

My favorite thing about living/working in the Desert Ridge area is… the supportive community, the “small town” feel, the beautiful desert and big sky.

My favorite movie I could never get tired of watching and why… Grease—it is just fun—you laugh, smile and sing along.

My family… the MOST supportive husband, Gary, and three delightful children—Kelli, Shelby and Colby, who are all adults now.

The business lesson I learned the hard way is… communicate-communicate-communicate. Never assume the community knows what is happening in any given situation. It is our job as public school educators and leaders to provide the information.

One thing I cannot live without… besides my family—my three Golden Retrievers.

When I was younger, I wanted to be… a nurse but then I had Mrs. Lewis for my fourth grade teacher and after that, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.

The song I would sing at Karaoke night is… Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys
The one person who motivates me is… I can’t do “one” person because it is the fantastic teachers in our school district who put their heart and soul into educating and caring for our students. They inspire me every day.

The last thing that made me laugh out loud was…kindergartners explaining to me how they were coding their robots at our STEM school. They are not only smart but adorable!

The perfect day would be… at the beach.

My first job was… besides babysitting, it was at Sears Roebuck International in Chicago as a translator in the Human Resources Department. I worked on all my school breaks until I graduated from college.

My life… has been blessed—despite the sometimes painful ups and downs that life throws our way, I am grateful for so much.

I’m currently working on… reviewing safety plans and procedures at our schools.

The best gift I’ve ever received was… my supportive family throughout my life.

The actor I would want to play me in a movie of my life is… Michelle Pfeiffer.

My dream vacation would be to… the Greek Islands.

My words of wisdom to aspiring business owners… know your customer and then provide the optimal customer service you can—they will appreciate it and support your business.
