My company and title is…. My company is Handyman Xtreme. My title is “Xtreme Founder”

A typical day in my life includes… I start off my day with a power shake, avocado toast and my own homemade cold brew before setting off. From there, my days are filled with everything from strategic partner meetings, to setting up new corporate client accounts, or maybe even filling in for a technician or handling a VIP client service call. I have to keep my hands in the business – it is my passion to help clients, and it’s in my blood to “fix things”. I ALWAYS have my “Go Bag” (of tools) at the ready!

My favorite thing about living/working in the North 32nd area is… The wonderful friendly people I get to call neighbors. Whether they are out in the neighborhood walking or taking care of you in their local businesses, they all make you feel like you belong. Also, I love the mature homes and working on their little “quirks”. My wife Dee and I were won over by the North 32nd area immediately!

My family… IS AWESOME! As of February 28, I have been married for 10 years to my wonderful wife Dee! We are so fortunate to have three dynamic children, Caleb (21) is a photographer in Florida, Olivia (19) serves our Navy in San Diego, and our little guy, Liam (8) is a Master Lego Engineer, right here in the North 32nd neighborhood.

The business lesson I learned the hard way is… Do not try to be everything to everyone everywhere … choose a niche or segment and go after that with all you’ve got! Otherwise, you are really nothing to no one anywhere. Secondly, you are an extremely important part of the company, but you are not the company and the company is not you. You must build efficient systems so that the company can continue to provide a consistent product/service to every client, every time, regardless of whether you are there to oversee things or not (otherwise, no time off for you…)

One thing I cannot live without is… Humor (or humour for my Canadian folk…) I could have never made it this far in life or business without ample amounts of humor coming in and going out (regardless if other people think I’m humorous…)

The last thing that made me laugh out loud was…The other night I was explaining how to do something to my 8-year-old son Liam, to which he replied, “come on Dad, this isn’t my first radio!” I’m pretty sure he meant it was not his first rodeo!

My first job was… Gas Station Attendant. Anyone remember full-service gas stations, where they checked your oil, fluids, tire pressure and washed your window while car was filling?? Anyway, I’ll never forget, because one day a customer drove away before his car was finished fueling and tore the gas pump right out of the ground… then it burst into flames. I was fired!

My life… Has been full of wonderful experiences and challenges alike, and I am grateful for all of them. I currently enjoy the small things (or so I tell myself) like a good cold brew coffee, time with family and friends, etc. I find myself being much more of selective what takes my time, attention and taste buds.

I’m currently working on… Personally: Organizing my home workshop and helping Liam make his Pinewood Derby car for Cub Scouts. Professionally: Growing our commercial division.
