ProMusica Arizona kicks off its 20th anniversary season with “Favorites — Past and Present” on Oct. 15 at a new venue––All Saints Lutheran Church, 15649 N. 7th St. in North Phoenix.

The concert will open with familiar patriotic favorites including “America the Beautiful,” “God Bless America,” toe-tapping John Philip Sousa marches and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” The second half of the concert will continue with a medley of Broadway songs by Stephen Sondheim including “Send in the Clowns” and a Richard Rodgers medley with songs from “The Sound of Music,” “South Pacific,” and “Oklahoma” to name a few. The orchestra will play film themes by John Williams from “Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” “Superman,” and others, as well as Mozart’s delightful “Overture to the Magic Flute.”

Arizona Christian University’s Firestorm Chorale will join ProMusica Arizona Chorale, bringing the total number of vocalists to more than 80 and creating an outstanding sound for the concert. The music in this opening concert is sure to generate fond memories for the audience and will remain with them for a long time!
