Ridgeline Academy is sprinting into the new year with a dynamic approach to student wellness and sportsmanship through the introduction of the Ridgeline Running Club, set to commence after the winter break. This new after-school program is designed to channel the boundless energy of students from kindergarten through sixth grade into a structured and enjoyable athletic pursuit.
Under the guidance of a dedicated first-grade teacher and seasoned cross-country coach, the club aims to ignite a passion for running among the young participants. “I am just looking for a way to get our kids active and spread awareness about how fun running is!” the club’s founder says.
The program is structured as an eight-week course, culminating in a celebratory race on the eighth week where family and friends are encouraged to attend and cheer on the young athletes. This annual event is not just a race but a celebration of the students’ commitment and progress.
All grades will share the same start time of 3:30 p.m., fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among the different age groups.. The registration fee of $30 covers the cost of a t-shirt and includes a medal to be awarded on race day. Parents are advised to register their children in advance to ensure they receive these items. While late registrations are welcome, they will not include a t-shirt or medal.
The club will meet every Thursday for eight weeks, starting January 11 and leading up to the much-anticipated race day on February 29. This club is more than just an after-school activity; it’s an investment in the physical and emotional wellbeing of the students, providing them with an outlet for their energy and a platform to build essential life skills.
