The City of Scottsdale recently announced changes to the city’s trash and recycling collection days. According to the city, this change will improve efficiency and make it easier to process recyclables.

Trash and recycling routes have not changed in more than 20 years, becoming unbalanced due to growth. The new collection schedule is based on the route size and the amount of solid waste and recycling collected.

Residents who do not have a change in collection days may see a difference in collection times due to route changes.
Trash and recycling containers should be placed on the street with wheels against the curb by 5 a.m. on collection days.

Operating more efficiently means the city can balance the size of collection routes to provide more consistent service, preserve the longevity of collection vehicles by carrying the right sized loads, and not overload the processing center.

New collection routes begin November 1. To determine your new collection days, visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search “Collection Day,” then find your service area on the map or use the Find My Service Day Tool, also found on the website. Residents can also call the city of Scottsdale at 480-312-5353.
