Albuquerque, New Mexico, is home to a fresh hotel concept from hospitality curator Dr. Sharmin Dharas. An unforgettable immersive boutique hotel located on Route 66 in the historic Nob Hill neighbor, the recently re-imagined Hotel Zazz boasts unique, eclectic rooms that feature vibrant colors and motifs that reflect Dr. Dharas’ East Indian culture.

Dr. Dharas renovated the boutique hotel with colorful art, a melody of chromatic visuals, and a vibration of sounds that sets Hotel Zazz apart. From mustard yellows to Indian Ocean blues, Dr. Dharas’ upbringing shines through in the hotel upgrades––East Indian culture features bold colors and spices that Dr. Dharas drew inspiration upon for Hotel Zazz.
“The vibrancy and life of my culture has been at the heart of the Hotel Zazz design, says Dr. Dharas. “I hope this project brings a new colorful culture and experience to the already diverse Albuquerque community, in a different way than we’re used to.”

Working hard and getting the hard work done was instilled in Dr. Dharas from a young age. Her parents used their income from a hotel to give Dr. Dharas an education, another common trait within her culture, so that she could bring luck and prosperity back to the family. Hospitality was a calling to Dr. Dharas. From treating guests with respect to making them as comfortable as they can be, she’s set her sights on offering guests the utmost care and compassion at Hotel Zazz.
The 48 sensory inspired guestrooms and suites at Hotel Zazz are each decorated differently and feature bold color combinations with whimsical murals or tilework. Combining a retro feel to the modern styling, colorful mini fridges complement each room’s coffee area, while soft textiles adorn the comfortable beds. All rooms are custom designed and tastefully appointed with keyless entry, fast Wi-Fi, and 50-inch televisions that include Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. Meanwhile, the bathrooms feature custom bath products, marble walk-in showers with rain shower heads and wands, plus robes and slippers.

The eclectic look extends to the outdoor and event spaces. At every turn, you’ll find pops of color and fun elements. Outdoor couches in bright teals and greens sit alongside interesting sculptures, and a giant chess board where guests are invited to test their skills. There’s a lawn with rocking chairs and a fire pit too. Meanwhile, the heated pool offers comfortable loungers and poolside cabanas. Throughout the property, there are also filtered water stations.

The Z-Lounge speakeasy and patio provide a welcoming spot for a cocktail (or two) to take in the blue skies, warm breezes, and richly hued sunsets New Mexico is known for. If you prefer to venture out, entertainment options abound nearby. Located a half mile from the University of New Mexico and the University of New Mexico Hospital, and only three miles from Kirtland Air Force Base, the area is full of restaurants, bars, and shopping within walking distance.

Hotel Zazz is located at 3711 Central Ave NE in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
