On Saturday, Sept. 16, Chandler’s Downtown Library at 22 S. Delaware St. will be transformed into a vibrant cultural hub for the Chandler Contigo Kickoff Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This celebratory event offers the community an immersive experience into the diverse and rich cultures of the Americas. Attendees can expect to be serenaded by strolling mariachis, while children and families can indulge in creative activities like face painting and crafting.

One of the festival’s highlights includes interactive presentations that take attendees on a captivating tour of various Latin American cultures. Those interested in sports entertainment will have the chance to meet local Lucha Libre masked wrestlers, getting a firsthand look at their signature moves.
Dance enthusiasts can revel in diverse Latin dance presentations, from the energetic beats of salsa to the traditional steps of Ballet Folklorico. Moreover, aspiring artists, irrespective of age, will have the opportunity to dive into the world of screen printing. A special art book workshop is also open for registration for those looking to further explore their artistic talents.

The festival also seeks to amplify local Latinx voices and provide insight into Chandler’s Latinx history. A unique Chandler barrio storytelling presentation is set to provide attendees with a glimpse into the city’s past, highlighting the contributions and stories of the Latinx community.

Local authors will also share their narratives and insights, giving attendees a literary treat. In collaboration with event partners Intel and Someburros, the festival also promises a range of family-friendly activities, ensuring that there’s something for everyone.
