HI, MY NAME IS… Guillermo (Mo’) Malvido
I’VE LIVED IN NORTH PHOENIX FOR FIVE YEARS AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… it’s close to my family. There’s a great sense of community here that I haven’t experienced before living in other parts of the Valley.
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… beginning with coffee. I enjoy reading or listening to podcasts early in the morning before the rest of the family is awake. This is my time to create content and reply to business inquiries. I have owned and operated Drop Top Entertainment since 2005 and the best part about it is I still get to get my hands dirty. Drop Top Entertainment is a mobile DJ and event rentals company specializing in luxury corporate events and modern weddings. I handle everything from booking clients to hearing love stories of hopeful couples, to sketching audio/visual setups to create awesome memories—it’s a special gift!
MY FAMILY IS… what drives me! My wife LaShawn, my 8-year-old son Benson, my 6-year-old daughter Brooklynn, and our newest addition Berlynn, who is 1.5 years old.
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… coffee. Short and sweet. Drop Top Entertainment is an all-in-one entertainment company which means I wear many, many hats! I DJ most of our events and weddings myself so there are many late nights and early mornings with the kiddos. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY IS… “Back to the Future.” I love the comedy. There are so many punchlines and the creativity of time travel! It was done really well and is still so relevant!
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… a performer like Michael Jackson. I am fortunate to be able to perform through DJ’ing.
THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… “Mr. Telephone Man” by New Edition.–dance moves included.
THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… great people inspire me. There are heroes all around us! However, I would say Dwayne Johnson, The Rock. He’s multitalented and stays humble.
THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… my daughter, dancing along to some old school R&B that I was listening to. Gotta teach them young!
THE PERFECT DAY IS… being with my wife and kids whether it is at home or on a vacation—any time that we are mindful and intentional with one another building connections. In our own world enjoying our time together bonding and laughing is the perfect place to be!
MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… Guarded Hope. They’re a local nonprofit that is dedicated to serving the immediate needs of our community. We participate in the water drive for the homeless each summer as well as the holiday events.
MY LIFE IS… a blessed one and getting better!
THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… my three kids.
MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… finally going to Hawaii for our long overdue honeymoon. My wife and I love our kids but don’t get many opportunities for it to be just the two of us. We will get there someday soon!
