Celebrating the city’s ethnic diversity and offering a taste of Asian culture, the North Phoenix Asian Food Festival is set to light up the night on Saturday, Oct. 28. Taking place at the North Phoenix Asian Plaza, 802 E. Union Hills Dr. from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the event promises an enchanting night market experience complete with culinary delights and unique retail finds.
Featuring eight local food vendors, the festival is a culinary journey across Asia. From the delightful fusion treats by Bonzai Boyz and Chinoz Grill to the succulent Taiwanese fried chicken by Heruclean Chicken and tempting mochi donuts by Mochinut, foodies will be spoilt for choice. For those with a sweet tooth, the locally acclaimed Happy Buns will be on site, boasting their famous fluffy coconut buns, butter mochi, and melt-in-your-mouth Japanese cheesecake.
But it’s not just about food. The festival also offers a slew of anime and retail vendors, including Lazy Day Tee, Sonya Market, Chibiawesome, and more, giving attendees an opportunity to indulge in some retail therapy.
“Arizona’s growing population is a testament to our evolving ethnic diversity,” says an event spokesperson. “This festival is more than just about food; it’s a celebration of our culture, heritage, and the incredible small businesses that bring it to life.”
The North Phoenix Asian Plaza is a newly minted cultural hub, transforming into a centerpiece for Asian-American dining and entertainment in North Phoenix.
While entry to the event is free, attendees are encouraged to RSVP, ensuring vendors are well-prepared to serve the anticipated crowds. Parking, also free, is available in adjacent lots. However, considering the expected turnout, the event organizers recommend carpooling or using rideshare services.
To further support the event and ensure a sweet ending to the night, attendees can pre-order desserts from Happy Buns, voted as “Phoenix” magazine’s 2019 Best of the Valley for Best Asian Treats.
