Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) has officially launched its fall 2023 Fine & Performing Arts events season with a lineup of eclectic concerts, exhibits, and performances. The series of events will unfold at PVCC’s Center for the Performing Arts (CPA), located at 18401 N. 32nd St., in Phoenix.

The season bursts into life on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. with a rhythmic evening of Brazilian music and dance. The music ensemble Explosão takes center stage, setting the tone for the upcoming events. This concert is open to the public, and admission is free.

A few days later, on Thursday, Sept.14, at 7 p.m., jazz enthusiasts can look forward to UNION32’s rendition of “The Crunge.” This performance reimagines Led Zeppelin’s iconic album “Houses of the Holy” through the evocative lens of jazz. Tickets for this event range from $5 to $15 and can be acquired online or an hour before the performance at the venue.

Complementing the live performances, a series of art exhibits happen at PVCC this fall:
1. La Dolce Vita showcases memories from PVCC’s Summer 2023 Art Trip to Italy. The exhibit runs from through September 14.
2. PVCC Adjunct Faculty Fine Art Showcase will display from September 23 to October 15. The accompanying reception is on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 5:30 p.m., which will segue into a screening of “City of God,” Brazil, at 6:30 pm.
3. Local Artists Spotlight highlights the works of Tess Mosko Scherer in 2D and Matthew Werner’s wood carvings. This exhibit will be on view from October 28 to November 19. A reception is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m., followed by a “Shakespeare in Love” theatre preview at 7 p.m.
