The Peoria Unified School District (PUSD) Governing Board recently approved new administrative positions at schools across the district. Two changes that impact NW Peoria students are the new principals of Vistancia Elementary School and Liberty High School.

Vistancia Elementary School
Megan Bennett was named as the new principal of Vistancia Elementary School. She begins her role on July 1. Bennett is joining Peoria Unified from Connecticut and will be relocating to Arizona this summer. She is bringing a wealth of experience to the district, currently serving as superintendent of schools for Regional School District 12 and leading four schools with approximately 800 students. Bennett has held the roles of principal from 2007 to 2018, as well as teacher, coach, and a math coordinator.
Liberty High School
Shawn Duguid will be the new principal of Liberty High School. He also begins his role on July 1. Duguid has served in the Peoria Unified School District in a variety of roles since 1998. He started his career as a teacher at Oakwood Elementary from 1998-2005. In 2005, he was named assistant principal where he served both Sundance Elementary and Sahuaro Ranch Elementary from 2005-2012. He was then appointed as the principal at Oakwood Elementary where he served the staff, students, and community for six years. From 2018-2021, Duguid held the role of executive director over elementary schools and then transitioned to chief operations officer. For the past year, Duguid has served as assistant principal at Raymond S. Kellis High School.
