The Saguaros will hold their Spring Gala, Cards For Kids, at Scottsdale Hangar One on March 25 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The casino night is dedicated to raising money for local Arizona children’s charities. Admission includes food and drinks for the night, as well as access to the casino, raffle, and live auction. All proceeds benefit the Saguaros Children’s Charities Foundation. Formal attire is encouraged.

“What started out as a small poker tournament among friends has now evolved into a large annual casino night dedicated to raising money for local Arizona children’s charities,” says this year’s Cards For Kids Chair Tad Crother. “This will be the fourth annual occurrence of the event, and we plan to make it bigger and better than ever!”

Cards For Kids is a component of the Saguaros Olympiad signature fundraiser, which last year raised nearly $1 million for children’s charities, including Boys Hope Girls Hope, The Care Fund, and Harvest Compassion Center. The Saguaros hope to reach over $1 million in funds raised for the Saguaros Children’s Charities Foundation this year, with combined proceeds from the Olympiad event and Cards For Kids.

“This event is a true community effort, with food and drinks and a huge number of prizes and raffle items donated by local businesses,” says Crother. “Plus, most of the money we raise will come from sponsorships purchased by local businesses as well. The event is a truly a celebration of those who want to give back to our community and have fun while doing it!”

Crother says the new Hangar One location will enable the event to grow, noting that the Saguaros are expecting 700 attendees and hoping to set a new event fundraising record.

Founded in 1987, the philanthropic and social club known today as the Saguaros has raised millions of dollars for local Arizona non-profit organizations. Composed of up to 50 young men under the age of 40, the Saguaros proudly give back to the community and support children’s charities through our two main fundraising events: NiteFlite and Olympiad. Most importantly, the Saguaros are unique among service organizations in that it not only raises money for children’s charities, but also encourages “hands on” interaction with the children the club supports.
