Desert Foothills Library, renowned as a hub of learning and community engagement, has announced an exciting lineup of events and programs for the months of August and September. Catering to a wide audience, these activities range from interactive sessions for children and teens to engaging programs for adults.

The Bullet Journaling Basics event for teenagers on Thursday, Aug. 3, promises a back-to-school special designed to teach essential organization and planning skills. Participants will learn how to create effective bullet journals, transforming their notes, plans, and tasks into visually pleasing layouts.

Another noteworthy activity for children is the Back to School Bracelets event. Scheduled for Friday, Aug. 4, this program offers an emotional support mechanism for children who find it challenging to return to school after summer. Participants will create matching bracelets as a symbolic reminder of their caregiver’s constant presence and support.

Teenagers with a knack for reading will particularly enjoy the Novels & Nails Book Club, which kicks off on Friday, Sept. 15. This unique gathering offers a fantastic opportunity for teens to vote for their preferred YA titles and discuss their thoughts at the end of the month.
Complementing these youth-oriented activities are sessions designed for family engagement. The Grandparents’ Day Storytime & Craft on Friday, Sept. 8, offers an excellent bonding experience for families. Meanwhile, the regular Family Storytime sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays aim to foster early literacy skills among children aged 4 to 7 years.

Weekly programs like the Game Café and Kids Craft Lab seek to create a fun, interactive atmosphere for young participants. The Desert Foothills Library ensures a diverse array of activities to cater to various interests and age groups, providing a platform to learn, explore, and grow creatively.

The library is not just for youngsters; several adult programs cater to a mature audience. The AZ Medicare Guide Presentation and Fall Prevention Awareness events promise to provide essential knowledge and guidance for adult attendees on Wednesday, Sept. 6., from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. This educational meeting will help you have a clear understanding of the different parts of Medicare, as well as the role Medicare supplement plans and Medicare Advantage Plans play within the Medicare program. They’ll cover the ABC’s of Medicare and the estimated costs associated with each part, followed by an open Q&A session!

Presented by Dave Piontek- licensed, independent, local Medicare broker offering clarity on the many confusing parts of Medicare. Dave has over 14 years of experience as a Medicare agent/broker and is available to answer your Medicare questions.

Moreover, the library is making room for animal lovers with the Cat & Kitten Adoptions event on Saturday, Aug. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The collaboration with Happy Cat Rescue aims to find loving homes for fantastic felines.
