MCDOT Initiates Bridge Deck Repairs on Gavilan Peak Parkway, Expect Travel Delays
Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has announced the commencement of extensive bridge deck repairs on Gavilan Peak Parkway, just south of Daisy Mountain Drive, effective throughout June. As part of the rehabilitation process, skilled crews will be focusing on repairing the bridge decks, applying a durable epoxy overlay to enhance the bridge surfaces, and installing fresh pavement markings. To minimize disruption to traffic flow, MCDOT has devised a strategic plan.

The repair work will be conducted on one side of the bridge at a time, ensuring that one lane of travel remains accessible in each direction. Although measures have been taken to maintain accessibility, motorists are advised to account for additional travel time due to potential delays caused by the ongoing repairs. The scheduled work hours for the repairs are set from 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and continue throughout June. MCDOT has selected these hours to mitigate inconvenience to commuters during peak traffic times.

However, travelers should still anticipate some temporary slowdowns and plan their journeys accordingly. This crucial maintenance project aims to improve the structural integrity and overall safety of the bridge on Gavilan Peak Parkway. MCDOT appreciates the public’s cooperation and urges motorists to exercise caution while driving through the construction area. By adhering to posted signage and adjusting travel plans, drivers can help ensure a smooth flow of traffic and the successful completion of the repairs. For the most up-to-date information and possible updates on the project, individuals are encouraged to visit the official MCDOT website at mcdot.maricopa.gov.
