New Free Fair Housing Workshops Announced
The city of Phoenix Equal Opportunity Department in conjunction with the Southwest Fair Housing Council presents its 2024 Fair Housing Workshops. Workshops are free and held remotely each month on Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon. Each person must register online.

The three-hour workshops provide information about fair housing practices and laws, and explain housing discrimination investigations from the experts who conduct them. Fair housing practices apply to apartments, houses, condominiums, and mobile home parks.

It is illegal for housing providers to discriminate against tenants, rental applicants, or customers based on race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression), national origin, disability, familial status, or source of income. Phoenix Implements New City Council District Boundaries

The city of Phoenix has put into effect new city council district boundaries following a comprehensive process of community engagement and public input. Approved unanimously by the Phoenix City Council on September 26, 2023, these boundaries became operational on January 1 of this year.

Mandated to reassess and redraw district lines every 10 years based on Census data, the city has adjusted the boundaries to ensure equal population distribution across districts. Residents can now view the new district boundaries and identify their councilmember using an online search tool. For more information about the redistricting process, visit phoenix.gov/cityclerk.

North Valley Regional Library Hosts Unique Date Night with Soap Making Craft
For a unique Valentine’s Day celebration, North Valley Regional Library is hosting a date night event centered around soap making. Scheduled for February 13, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., this adults-only program invites couples to craft custom bars of soap for each other.

This creative activity provides an opportunity for partners to bond and enjoy a hands-on experience. Participants are required to register individually for the event to ensure a personalized and intimate setting.

Located at 40410 N. Gavilan Peak Pkwy., in Anthem, the library continues to offer innovative and community-focused events. Date Night at the Library will be a memorable experience, combining crafting fun with the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
