HI, MY NAME IS… Mellanie Joy.

I’VE LIVED IN ARIZONA FOR SEVEN YEARS AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… there is sunshine almost every day! I love the outdoors and the warm weather.

A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… a morning bike cruise with my dog. A quick shower, a protein shake, networking events, and client consultations, checking on my rentals, dinner, yoga, a shower, reading a little of my romance novel, and lots of sleep.

MY FAMILY IS… all living in Washington State. So, I’m creating new family in Arizona.

ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… spending time in nature.
MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY IS… I don’t watch much tv or movies. They put me to sleep.

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… a briefcase carrying, suit wearing business woman.

THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… oh no, not me, no singing. Unless I’m in the car alone and ’90s hip-hop comes on.

THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… my partner, Teresa. She is hard working with a positive attitude. She is dedicated to the success of whatever she is involved in, she is a great role model for her two kids, she still makes time to work out and no matter what, she doesn’t give up!

THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… I’m embarrassed saying this but its flatulence. I try to act disgusted, but it makes me laugh like a kid.

THE PERFECT DAY IS… a mountain bike ride, brunch, a nap, reading in the pool, and early to bed.

MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… Rotary International. They do so much for our community.

MY LIFE IS… full of adventure.

THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… having my grandmother as my best friend. I have so many amazing memories of our time together. I used to ride my bicycle to her house and cook her breakfast when I was under 10 years old. We would make Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts together. When I went off to college I would drive home at least once a month to spend the weekend with her and the rest of my family. Now, she comes to Arizona for spring training. And we talk and text most days.

MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… backpacking across a foreign country.

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… when I was graduating high school, my grandfather told me to, “get out of this small town and only come back to visit.” I often miss my family, but I’ve learned so much by traveling and exploring different foods, cultures, activities, and landscapes. I’m no longer suffering through cold snowy winters, and it has all shaped who I am today.
