After more than 18 years in Phoenix, local gourmet bakery, Urban Cookies Bakeshop opened its second shop in Scottsdale recently. Located at 8776 E. Shea Blvd, Suite #108, the bakery offers its popular menu items, including brown velvet and strawberry cupcakes, milk and dark chocolate chip, and snickerdoodle cookies.

“After surveying our customers, it was clear that a new location in the East Valley would be well received,” says co-owner Shaun Breese. “Since we’re right off the 101 freeway, we are easy to access from Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, and Chandler.”

As its name signifies, the bakery began in 2005 selling its signature cookies made with all natural, gourmet ingredients. But in 2011, the owners and husband-wife team, Brady and Shaun Breese, won Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars,” putting its new line of cupcakes on the map. Today it is most known for its cupcakes, which it offers in 12 to 14 flavors, all made by hand and from scratch daily.
“The reception in Scottsdale has been amazing so far,” says co-owner Brady Breese. “Being surrounded by so many businesses and the HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center has allowed us to get off to a great start.”

Urban Cookies’ two locations are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It offers its full line of pastries fully stocked every morning for walk-ins, as well as online ordering for same day or advance pre-orders and delivery through its website serviced by Door Dash. Cupcakes are $4.40, cookies are $3.25, brownies and bars are $3.60, and an assortment of to-go cakes are $50.
