Midwestern University is pleased to announce new roles and responsibilities for members of the University leadership team. Kathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern University, announced the changes earlier this fall.
“I always cherish the opportunity to celebrate and recognize members of our community who have excelled in their leadership responsibilities and fulfill our mission of academic excellence,” says Dr. Goeppinger. “I am very proud of the caliber of leadership that Midwestern University enjoys thanks to these special individuals.”
Joshua C. Baker, O.D., M.S., has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, adding oversight and management of Admissions and Research and Sponsored Programs on both the Downers Grove and Glendale Campuses to his duties as CAO for Pharmacy, Optometry, and Veterinary Education. Dr. Baker has been with Midwestern University for eight years and previously served as the Dean of the Arizona College of Optometry (AZCOPT) and as Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, Pharmacy, Optometry, and Veterinary Education. As an Army Major, Dr. Baker spent time deployed in Al Asad, Iraq and received the Bronze Star. Dr. Baker received his bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College, earned a Master of Science in Secondary Science Education from Syracuse University, and graduated magna cum laude from the Illinois College of Optometry.
Angela L. Marty, M.A., PHR, has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Administration, with management responsibilities including Communications and Special Events, Library, Media Resources, Safety and Security, Risk Management, Institutional Research, and Occupational Safety and Health. Marty has been with Midwestern University since 1996 and previously served as Vice President, Human Resources and Administration and Director of Human Resources. She received her Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership in 2016 from Lewis University.
Daniel Tapia, M.I.S.M., M.P.M., PMP, has been promoted to Vice President, Operations, after previously serving as Director, Project Management, and as Assistant Vice President, Project Management. Tapia has been with Midwestern University for 18 years and is a recipient of the Littlejohn Award, the university’s highest honor for faculty, staff, and alumni. He earned his Master of Science degrees in Project Management and Information Systems Management from the Keller Graduate School of Management and is completing a Doctor of Education degree in Organizational Leadership.
