Tempe’s annual PlayDay, a celebration of play and physical activity for all ages, is set to take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Fiesta Playground in Kiwanis Park. This free event, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is part of the city’s commitment to being a Playful City USA community.

Kiwanis Park, located at Mill Ave. & All-America Way, will be transformed into a hub of excitement and fun. The event offers a wide range of activities suitable for kids and adults alike, ensuring a memorable day for the whole family.

Highlights of PlayDay 2024 include kayaking on Kiwanis Lake, a challenging Hitsquad Ninja Obstacle course, and a variety of sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, and pickleball. For those with a creative flair, Tempe Community Arts will host art projects, while the Tempe Public Library will engage young minds with storytelling and reading activities.

The Kid Zone will offer a plethora of activities including gardening, face painting, an Angry Birds Launcher, and STEM activities. Skateboarders can look forward to demonstrations and tips from Cowtown S.K.A.T.E. Additionally, Tempe Aquatics will provide CPR and water safety demonstrations, while Play Mobile will set up life-size yard games.

Safety and health are also a focus, with the Tempe Crime Prevention and Mounted Patrol in attendance, and Stretch-N-Grow leading play activities. The Tempe Special Olympic Cheer team will also perform, and food trucks such as Kona Ice, Burgers Amore, and Sabor a Mi will be on-site to offer a variety of delicious treats.
