The Joy Bus is looking for volunteers.

We are excited to be a part of the Uptown Farmers Market and now have a booth selling “More Than A Meal” cookbooks and donated artisan items to raise money for The Joy Bus Meal Delivery Program. Each Saturday, volunteers will arrive to set up our booth, assist with selling items, and help to share our story.

The Uptown Farmers Market takes place on Saturday mornings at North Phoenix Baptist Church, located at 5757 N. Central Avenue in Phoenix. Familiarity with The Joy Bus mission and customer service experience is a huge plus in this volunteer position.

The Joy Bus Diner is a nonprofit restaurant located in the North 32nd community that’s helping make our Valley a tastier, happier place, one meal at a time. Every cent earned at the restaurant is used to support The Joy Bus, a local charity that brings chef-inspired meals and caring conversations to cancer patients Valley-wide.

Now re-open after closure due to the pandemic, the diner is The Joy Bus’ main source of revenue. Throughout COVID-19, we have been fortunate enough to continue to provide our services and keep our feet on the ground thanks to our amazing community partners and donors.
Founded in 2011 by award-winning chef Jennifer Caraway, The Joy Bus was named in honor and memory of her dear friend Joy. Joy struggled with the painful and debilitating side effects of ovarian cancer. Her grace, drive, and determination inspire us to help those who fight that same battle. Many cancer patients are left to fend for themselves during this turning point in their lives. The Joy Bus eases that burden by providing healthy meals specified to meet our patrons’ needs, delivered by volunteers who are often cancer survivors themselves.
