While The Wandering Donkey food truck brand was originally established in 2012, its brick-and-mortar location, The Wandering Donkey Taqueria and Tequila Bar, is now open at 10121 E. Bell Road in North Scottsdale.

Proprietors Lance and Beth Smith share that, for those who might have first discovered the Wandering Donkey by visiting the truck, there is a replica food truck inside the restaurant with the original menu option where customers can build their own burritos, bowls, street tacos, and more.

In addition, there is the creative, sit-down menu representing elevated regional fare from various states of Mexico along with an array of craft margaritas, and some of the finest tequila brands to sip or shoot.

The interior is lively with color: patrons can admire the work of local artist, Leila Parnian, who has created murals and a custom bar that’s a real showstopper.

“People come in just for that bar top,” Lance says. “It’s beautiful. Leila does graffiti art and created three different wonderful murals on the walls with cans of spray paint, though you’d never know that’s what it is.”

He adds that more art will be added to the expansive patio with fire pit.

“We believe in quality,” says Beth. “Our ingredients are held to the highest standards and customers know they’re getting food and drinks that tastes exceptionally good and are being made with the best ingredients. We feel that the Wandering Donkey Taqueria and Tequila Bar is an extension of our home, and we strive to make all of our guests as comfortable and as happy as possible. One thing is for sure: you will leave with a well satisfied belly and look forward to returning soon!”
