Chin Up Donuts is a woman-owned donut shop created by self-named Chief Donut Officer Alex McEntire. Specializing in pairing spicy, savory, or unexpected glazes and piling donuts high with non-traditional toppings, Alex aims to elevate a childhood favorite all while creating a happiness brand. Chin Up’s mission is “to bring more positivity and optimism to the world, one ring of dough at a time.”
Initially her passion project, she started with a single countertop deep fryer in her apartment kitchen, playing around with unique donut flavors. She eventually traded in her corporate badge to focus on bringing smiles and sweets to the people of Scottsdale full-time.
After doing pop-ups and farmers markets with her donut trike, she just opened her first brick and mortar retail shop at The Promenade on Frank Lloyd Wright and Scottsdale Road. In addition to scratch-made brioche donuts, Chin Up also roasts all their coffee in-house. Alongside her twin sister, Sam, they roast on a zero-emissions Bellwether roaster that they use to make their specialty coffee drinks, espresso, and drip coffee under the name Giddy Up Coffee Co.
The team at Chin Up Donuts is looking forward to being a part of the Scottsdale community, and hopes to be a spot where all people feel welcomed.
