The Midwestern University Dental Institute, located at 5855 W. Utopia Road in Glendale, will host two events in April that will provide free dental care and consultations to Valley children and military veterans who are unable to afford care. Treatments for both events are by appointment only, and community members are encouraged to make appointments as soon as possible to ensure treatment.

On Friday, April 1 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., the Dental Institute will host the Veterans’ Dental Day. Faculty and students from the Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine-Arizona will provide free screenings and treatments including dental examinations, routine cleanings, sealants, fillings, extractions, consultations about dental implants or dentures, and additional recommendations to military veterans. Proof of military service (DD214, Arizona military veteran driver license, and/or discharge documentation) is required for treatment.

Give Kids a Smile will take place on April 23 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Dental Institute. Children ages 6 to 14 will have the opportunity to receive free screenings and treatments including cleanings, sealants, fillings, or extractions. Families will also receive important information on proper oral health maintenance and disease prevention. The Midwestern University Give Kids a Smile program is part of a nationwide initiative to provide underprivileged children with much-needed dental care.

Appointments for the Veterans’ Dental Day and Give Kids a Smile may be arranged by calling 623-806-7150 or visiting Midwestern University’s website at midwestern.edu/veteransdentalday and midwestern.edu/GKAS.

Spanish-speaking faculty, staff, and students will be available. All participants must wear masks while on campus and complete a pre-event health questionnaire. Screenings and temperature checks will take place in the clinic during the appointment.
